The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing competent nursing care. Responsible for coordination of the patient's plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to established outcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.

About Us:

The Pediatric Sedation unit is part of the larger, very robust, Perioperative Services Department at Valley Children’s Hospital. The Periop department incorporates many procedural areas supporting a variety of service lines, which allows us to care for kids all over the Central Valley and the surrounding areas. The Sedation Unit services primarily provides care to the outpatient population. The team works closely with Radiology prior to procedures such as VCUG, nuclear med scans and US. They see oncology patients during their RAD treatments, LP’s, Bone Marrows, and intrathecal chemo and the RNs also work with Audiology quite frequently to help perform important BAER testing for infants with suspected hearing deficiencies. With 12 Operating Rooms, a newly upgraded Cardiac Cath Lab/Electrophysiology Lab, Sedation Services, Endoscopy Suite, Interventional Radiology Suite, and Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit (PACU) the Perioperative Department is well equipped to support Valley Children’s Patients with state of the art services. EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year nursing experience required and must meet RN II clinical advancement program criteria
  • Experience in pediatrics, sedation, pre/post op and/or surgery a plus
  • Bilingual skills desirable

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, Bachelor’s in Nursing strongly preferred
  • Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
  • HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position
